Do you want to straighten your teeth but don’t want anyone to see your braces or know you are having orthodontic treatment?
This is where lingual braces come in. They are similar to traditional braces except that they are fitted to the back surfaces of your teeth so that nobody can see them.
How do lingual braces work?
Lingual braces are used to correct misaligned teeth and bite problems using a fixed brace that has been bonded to the inner side of the teeth. This enables teeth to be moved into their correct position without having the braces in plain view. Lingual appliances aren’t suitable for every patient and you may find them difficult to adapt to as they can affect speech and chewing, although this only tends to be at the beginning of treatment while you get used to wearing the appliance.

At The Smile Practice in Didcot and Oxford, we use two types of lingual braces:
Incognito
Incognito™ is a lingual brace appliance suitable for all types of orthodontic problems. Furthermore, it is easy to keep clean. Both the brackets and wires are custom made for each individual using specialised CAD/CAM technology. The remarkable flat design of the gold alloy brackets (anti allergic) provides maximum comfort and rapid adaptation to speech.
STb™ Light lingual system
The STb Light Lingual System utilises a new passive self-ligation design for dramatically reduced friction and lighter forces. The STb system comprises the most advanced lingual technology, making it incredibly comfortable for you and very easy to use.
