Is this the right solution for me?

We usually offer implants for dentures to people for the following reasons:

    • There isn’t enough healthy jawbone available to insert a large amount of implants
    • You’d rather chose a more minimal approach that requires less work to your jawbone
    • You prefer the flexibility of removable teeth but want the stability and comfort of implants

We’ll always discuss the various treatment options available to you during your consultation to make sure you are confident you’re making the right choice for your smile.

How do implants for dentures work?

We’ll place a titanium cylinder in your gums, which takes the place of the root that was there before your tooth fell out. This cylinder will fuse to the bone, and help you regain the stability needed to do activities we all take for granted, like biting chewing and even talking.

Once the implants have fused to the jawbone, we’ll fit a series of press stud-like attachments which enable you to firmly click and lock your dentures into place.

How long does it take to insert the implants?

This will differ, depending on the individual. However, the procedure is simple – usually taking between three and six months from start to finish – and there is minimal recovery time involved.

Will I be able to eat what I want again?

One of the downsides of dentures is that they often don’t feel secure enough to eat ‘hard’ foods like apples, steaks or crusty bread. However, once people have had their implants fitted and their dentures locked in place, they find that they can eat whatever they want with confidence.

How easy is it to clean these dentures?

One of the real benefits of having removable dentures is that it is easy to maintain a good level of oral hygiene, as brushing and flossing around implants is simple once the dentures have been removed.
