Dermal fillers

Does your skin feel less plump, smooth or hydrated than it used to? As we age, deep lines, loss of volume and dehydration can occur, But, there is a way to turn back time and replenish your skin’s youthful appearance with the use of dermal fillers.

The magic ingredient

Hyaluronic acid is the substance that helps your skin stay hydrated and flexible. As we age, our skin’s hyaluronic acid content decreases, causing a loss of volume, thinning lips, dullness and dry skin, along with the appearance of deep lines and folds.

Dermal fillers effectively replace the missing hyaluronic acid in your skin and reduce the appearance of wrinkles. We inject small quantities of dermal filling into specific areas to target problems and restore a full, youthful appearance. The treatment enhances the contours of your face, fills cheeks and reduces the appearance of lines and folds for a smoother, more youthful complexion.

A beautiful solution

Dermal fillers are becoming increasingly popular with adults of all ages, to tackle a range of issues:

  • Loss of volume in the cheeks
  • Smokers’ lines around the mouth
  • As an alternative to surgical rhinoplasty to help correct minor nose deformities like nasal bumps
  • Deep nose-to-mouth lines
  • A receding chin
  • Thin lips

Double the impact

Dermal fillers are most frequently used on the lower half of your face, focusing on cheeks and around the mouth. They can be used in conjunction with Botox, which tends to be used around the forehead and eyes, to gently enhance your entire face.

Benefits

  • Restores lost volume and plumpness in your cheeks, lips and chin
  • Helps recontour your face to create a more youthful look
  • Re-defines specific areas of your face
  • Brings moisture to the skin’s surface to reveal a supple, fresh and rejuvenated face
  • A smoother, younger-looking complexion

FAQs

How long will I have to wait to see results?

Dermal fillers provide results immediately and there is very little downtime involved. You might experience occasional redness and swelling, but this will go down within a couple of hours.

How long do dermal fillers last?

The effects of dermal fillers usually last between six to nine months, and can be topped up to keep you looking and feeling your best.

Do dermal fillers hurt?

Along with using very fine needles to administer dermal fillers, we also numb the treatment area with anaesthetic cream to make the procedure comfortable.

Depending on the type of treatment you have, and the area being targeted, there may be a little pain. We’ll explain the process and what to expect before you start your treatment.

Who can have dermal fillers?

Fillers are very safe, however they are not advised for pregnant or breastfeeding women. Also, if you have issues with acne, we recommend seeking treatment for it first, as acne can carry an increased risk of infection.

If you have any concerns, just talk to one of the team to see whether dermal fillers are right for you.

What types of fillers do you use?

We use both Juvederm® and Restylane® here at The Oxford Smile Clinics. They are popular due to their long-term safety and excellent results. We’ll help you decide which one is best for you.
