Bone grafts
Bone grafts act as scaffolding to help stimulate natural bone growth and build back a full, healthy-looking jaw. They are also used to ensure there is enough bone for dental implants to be inserted to create a solid foundation for new teeth, bridges or fixed dentures.
Sinus lifts
Similar to bone grafts, sinus lifts add bone to strengthen and fill out your jaw. Sinus grafts focus on adding bone to your upper jaw in the area of your molars and premolars, between your jaw and the sinuses either side of your nose. The surgery helps to add extra height and width to your jawbone and create a strong foundation in which to insert implants.

FAQs
How do bone grafts and sinus implants work?
We’ll take scans of your jawbone and/or sinuses to ensure that the area is suitable for dental implant treatment. The graft then takes part in two stages:
- We harvest a graft, which will differ depending on the grafting type, but can be used from a part of your body, as well as artificial or animal origin alternatives
- The graft is then attached and allowed to fuse. When possible, we carry out implant placement at the same time as a bone graft in order to reduce the need for additional surgery
Where are bone grafts harvested from?
We use different types of bone depending on the complexity of the treatment you need. These range from synthetic, bovine and your own bone matter, which is usually taken from the back of your jaw where wisdom teeth are located.
Will I be awake during the process?
In most cases, bone grafts and sinus lifts are performed while you are under conscious sedation.
