Meet Dr Ajay Mugai

Dr Ajay Murgai is the Clinical Director at The Oxford Smile Clinics. In his role as Clinical Director, Dr Murgai focuses on the development of our associate dentists, ensuring all patient care is of a high standard. Dr Murgai also carries out complex dental treatments such as full dental makeovers. Graduating from The University of Sheffield in 2005, Dr Murgai has gone on to further develop his skills by completing postgraduate courses and attending conferences in areas such as restorative and cosmetic dentistry and facial rejuvenation. Dr Murgai is an Invisalign Platinum Elite Provider. Dr Murgai is a caring dentist who puts the comfort and needs of his patients first. As a Dental Phobia certified dentist, he takes the time to understand patients’ worries and fears so he can deliver a bespoke treatment that helps them feel at ease.

FAQs

How does it work?
We’ll create a series of custom-made clear aligners for your teeth, which will each be worn for 20-22 hours per day before being changed to the next, slightly tighter one after 7 days.
What is the process?
We’ll invite you in for a free consultation, where we’ll take you through your options and create a personalised treatment plan. We’ll then take precise impressions of your teeth and show you a preview of the end result. These impressions will be used to make your own, bespoke aligners. You’ll wear each one for around a week before progressing to the next. We’ll welcome you into the clinic every ten to twelve weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned.
How does the iTero scanner work?
The iTero scanner is used at the start of your Invisalign treatment to capture digital images of your teeth. Using a small wand, your Invisalign dentist will carefully scan your teeth and your bite to create a 3D digital model of your teeth. This digital model is then used to plan your Invisalign treatment, allowing us to see your Invisalign journey played out on screen – step-by-step – before you start treatment.
How long does the treatment take?
This all depends on your personal treatment plan. You’ll wear between seven and 60 aligners, depending on the result you want to achieve. Once you’ve finished the treatment, you’ll be provided with a set of clear retainers to wear at night, long term, to maintain your new smile.
How long do I have to wear my Invisalign clear aligners for each day?
For the best results, you will need to wear each aligner for a minimum of 20 hours a day. Following treatment you will need to wear clear removable retainers at night time in the long term to maintain your smile.
